Performance of MODIS C6.1 Dark Target and Deep Blue aerosol products in Delhi National Capital Region, India: Application for aerosol studies

چکیده
Delhi National Capital Region (NCR) of India is one the most polluted regions in world, yet only two ground-based monitoring sites under AEROsol RObotic NETwork (AERONET) measuring Aerosol Optical Depth (AOD) are operational this region. Here, we assessed performance Terra and Aqua MODIS collection 6.1 AOD product to understand their applicability for studying seasonal spatial variations over Delhi-NCR. We compared Deep Blue at 550 nm retrieved 10 km resolution (DB10K), Dark Target 3 (DT3K) (DT10K) resolutions against from these AERONET (Gual Pahari Amity University) during 2010–2019 keeping mind uncertainty range represented as expected error (EE) envelope [EE = ± (0.03 + 20% AODAERONET) DB10K, EE (0.05 15% DT3K DT10K respectively]. Our evaluation reveals following statistics: correlation coefficients (R) 0.44, 0.74, 0.77 DT3K, AODs TERRA 0.7, 0.79, 0.72 AQUA, respectively root mean square errors 0.26, 0.01, 0.17 0.24, 0.20, 0.24 respectively. results demonstrate better reliability DT products relative DB urbanized areas North India. Emission industries, power plants, brick kilns, enhances aerosol loading after a light precipitation event.

Validation of Version 5.1 MODIS Aerosol Optical Depth (Deep Blue Algorithm and Dark Target Approach) over a Semi-Arid Location in Western India
We have examined the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) Collection 5.1 Level 2 Aerosol Optical Depth (AOD) from Deep Blue algorithm and Dark Target approach over Ahmedabad, India for 2002 to 2005. Deep Blue algorithm is observed to be able to retrieve AOD over the Rann of Kuchchh, a region of high surface reflectance which poses difficulty for the Dark Target approach. Microt...
متن کاملThe MODIS Aerosol Algorithm, Products and Validation
The MODerate resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) aboard both NASA's Terra and Aqua satellites is making near global daily observations of the earth in a wide spectral range (0.41 to 15 μm). These measurements are used to derive spectral aerosol optical thickness and aerosol size parameters over both land and ocean. The aerosol products available over land include aerosol optical thickn...

[1] Our understanding of the global dust cycle is limited by a dearth of information about dust sources, especially small-scale features which could account for a large fraction of global emissions. Here we present a global-scale highresolution (0.1 ) mapping of sources based on Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) Deep Blue estimates of dust optical depth in conjunction with o...
متن کاملImproved MODIS Dark Target aerosol optical depth algorithm over land: angular effect correction
Aerosol optical depth (AOD) product retrieved from MODerate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) measurements has greatly benefited scientific research in climate change and air quality due to its high quality and large coverage over the globe. However, the current product (e.g., Collection 6) over land needs to be further improved. The is because AOD retrieval still suffers large uncer...
متن کاملPersistence of Corynebacterium diphtheriae in Delhi & National Capital Region (NCR)
Despite the introduction of mass immunization, diphtheria continues to play a major role as a potentially lethal infectious disease in many countries. Delay in the specific therapy of diphtheria may result in death and, therefore, accurate diagnosis of diphtheria is imperative. This study was carried out at National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), Delhi, India, on samples of suspected diphth...
